HOST OF CELEBRITIES TEE OFF FOR THE NSPCC


Celebrities from the world of TV, sport and show business, both in the UK and America, will be playing in Europe’s premier celebrity golf tournament, the Howard Keel NSPCC Golf Classic, which is being held at the Mere Golf and Country Club in Cheshire on Sunday 7th September.

The event, which for years has attracted golfing fans and celebrity spotters from all over the UK is in its 17th year and has always attracted an array of celebrities to raise funds for the children’s charity, the NSPCC.

Famous names teeing off for charity with Howard Keel include:- William Roache and Johnny Briggs from Coronation Street, Vince Earl and Steve Pinder from Brookside, actors Kevin Whately, Tim Healy, Ian Kelsey, and Phil Middlemiss, comedians Tommy Cannon, Jasper Carrott, footballers Frank Worthington, Mike England, Gary Owen and musicians, John Miles, Brian Bennett from the Shadows and Don Felder from the Eagles. Some 30 teams will be participating in the tournament, with a celebrity in every team.

Howard Keel, said: “The success of this tournament is that it is a great day out for players and spectators alike, in a beautiful setting.  It has its own unique atmosphere. I am delighted that this wonderful event raises such huge amounts of money for the NSPCC and it’s essential work of helping children.”

Spectator entry to the event at the Mere Golf and Country Club, Knutsford, Cheshire costs £5 per adult and children under 14 are admitted free. All tickets can be bought on the day and include a free official Tournament Programme, particularly useful for autograph hunters. There is a public car park opposite the entrance to the Golf Club that costs £2 for the day.

The first teams will tee off at 8.45am and play will continue until about 6.30pm.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has been working hard to protect children from abuse and neglect for nearly 120 years.  The NSPCC’s FULL STOP Campaign aims to end cruelty to children. The charity believes that child abuse can be prevented, but only if everyone joins together and is actively committed to stopping it.

All profits raised by the Howard Keel NSPCC Golf Classic will go towards the NSPCC FULL STOP Campaign.
